Frequently Asked Questions

What is the KCC Child Sponsorship Scheme?
This is a process by which you can give a monthly payment to cover the cost of a child living at the Kampala Children’s Centre. As a sponsor, you are able to ‘adopt’ such a child and care for them as though they were your own child through the work of the Kampala Children’s Centre.

What will my sponsorship for my sponsored child do?
It will cover the cost of the child’s personal needs such as food, clothing, medical care and treatment and education.

At Kampala Children’s centre, we will be providing for all of the child needs. Once the child comes to the centre, we are committed to meeting all their health, social, and educational needs until they are 18 years of age.

We are committed to providing an optimum environment for the children to grow and learn in. We will give each child the best that we can; all of the amount you give will be used for the care of your sponsored child and their KCC family. We will keep you informed of our progress.

What will I receive?
Once you have registered to sponsor a child you will receive a welcome pack containing a photo, a description and the story of the child that you are sponsoring.  Subsequently, you will receive reports on the child’s welfare and progress at least twice a year, and once the child is able to write, you will receive letters from the child.

Can I communicate with my sponsored child?
You can write to your sponsored child and once your child is able to read and write, you will receive written communication from them.

Can I send letters/cards to my sponsored child?
All letters and cards should be addressed to Kampala Children Centre and posted to Uganda at the following address. Please don’t include your postal address or email address in the latter. By no means should the letter include monetary or expensive gifts as we can’t guarantee mail security before it reaches our office.

PLEASE DON’T INCLUDE MONETARY GIFTS OR ITEMS

Will I be able to visit my Sponsored child?
You are very welcome to visit your child at the Kampala Children’s Centre please contact us. We will be happy to meet you and for you to meet your sponsored child.

How long should my commitment last?
We are committed to each child at KCC until they leave the centre to find work or to go to university at 18 years. Thus we would also encourage you to consider sponsorship of your child as a long-term commitment. However, we understand that this may not always be possible and should circumstances occur such that you have to terminate your sponsorship, we kindly ask you to inform us in writing before you stop your direct debit.

How do I register to sponsor a child?
Fill out online registration form or download copy and send to us on the address shown.  We will then send you the name of your child

How will I pay?
At present, we are set up to receive sponsorship by direct debit payments, Credit cards through our website; Standing order forms are available from our UK office or NDE office in your country and for download from our website. You can also set up a direct debit via our website using a Pay Pal account.

Can I sponsor more than one child?
Yes you may sponsor as many children as you like but we remind you that sponsoring a child should be a long term scheme

What is expected of a sponsor?
Your commitment to the child involves monthly payments, which will cover their material needs. You can also write to your child and send gifts at birthday or Christmas time. We want to have positive interaction between the sponsor and the child that they support. Sponsors are expected to write at least two letters a year, and perhaps to send a photo of themselves, which the child can keep.

Periodically there will be fundraising initiatives that you and your friends or family can get involved in. These will give you the opportunity to spread the word to others interested in partnering with us to save other needy children’s lives.

Should you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
