More houses and lives rebuilt!

House 8 has been named ‘New Beginnings’ and is now fully completed and painted. We aim to use this home as a half way house for boys aged 14 – 18 years of age. In the half way home, the boys will have more independence, learning valuable life skills – preparing them for adult life at university and the wider community. There will be an Uncle who mentors the boys and they will still go back to their homes for a meal each week to spend time with all their family at KCC. House 9 is due to be completed by the summer and we are looking forward to moving another 12 children into their new home!

This year we have appointed three new members of staff on site at KCC, an Operations Director, communications officer and a full time Nurse who lives on site at KCC. As the project keeps expanding more staff are required to meet all the needs. At this time we are in need of more people to sponsor our house mothers and other workers wages, if you are interested please contact our office.

All the children on site are doing really well and enjoying family life! Each home has been allocated a small section of garden to plant and grow crops. Many of the children enjoy going to the garden with their mothers and digging up the cassava and sweet potatoes to eat! The gardens have meant that we have been able to grow extra food on site to help supplement the food we buy from the market.

They are looking forward to Easter and the celebrations they will have. An Easter tradition at KCC is to have chicken to eat, which is everyone’s favourite and a real treat! The children are also very excited about the up-coming bible camp that will take place on the 1st April - thank you to all volunteers who are helping to run this!

The youngest of our KCC family, 11-month-old twins Timothy and Tigan, are very active now and are loved by everyone including all the volunteers! Tigan is learning to walk and very independent but timothy is more content to be cuddled! They enjoy their food and have remained very healthy - thank you to all their sponsors.
