“On 18 and 19 November Destiny Africa
came to Sharmans Cross Junior School.
It was a real privilege to have them in
school and just seeing their happy smiley
faces was really uplifting. They gave a
fantastic performance of singing, dancing
and drumming – their coordination,
timing and endless energy was incredible
to see. They were able to engage
the whole school, staff and children and
even managed to get everyone involved
in learning a song and getting up on their
feet and dancing along with them. They
answered questions from our school
children about their time in England and
life in Kampala Children’s Centre and it
was obvious that they had touched the
hearts of young and old alike.
It was great that they still had the energy
to go out and join the Sharmans children
for ‘playtime’ afterwards and a game of
football was enjoyed as well as a spontaneous
lesson in African dance! We all
had a wonderful time and were really
sad when it was time for them to leave.”
“On Wednesday 19 November some
children from Uganda, (Africa), came
to our school. They sang songs, played
the drums and danced. The majority
of the children were orphans. Some of
the children lived on the streets until
the Kampala Children’s Centre rescued
them. They now have a place to stay
and food and clean water. The thing I
liked best was their drumming. They
also came out into the playground afterwards
and played football - they were
better than us!” |
“The choir was fantastic! They could
drum, sing, dance and act all at the same
time. My favourite part was when they
were sitting in a line and playing three
drums each plus it was in rhythm! They
were all amazingly talented at everything.
wouldn’t have missed it for the
world. It was a fantastic experience.
Best treat ever!” |

“I thought it was brilliant - the way they
multi-task. The singing and dancing was
excellent. They should go on X-Factor!”
We were very grateful to have Stuart
Holmes from Birmingham attend many
schools to help share the vision of KCC
with children from infant schools up to
secondary.
“Destiny Africa went into many primary
and Secondary schools during their tour.
Wherever they went, they were very
well received by pupils and staff alike. As
they performed songs, dances and drum
routines, it was great to see so many
gripped by what they saw and heard. For
some pupils, this was a chance to see
some of the ‘lives’ that they had heard of
and in some cases, raised money to help
and support. The response since the visit
has continued to be very favourable and
there is already anticipation for the next
visit!”

2,500 school children in the Oldham
area. They inspired both pupils and staff |
“We enjoyed being part of it and
the children are already looking at
future fund raising ideas.”

“The Destiny choir were fantastic
and I know our Crompton House
Choir loved taking part in the
concert. If you ever need our help
or require another choir or group,
please don’t hesitate to ask.”
