| Construction continues… things are moving on well with construction at KCC and all the children for house 6 and 7 have now been profiled and ready to move into the centre. The school is now complete and looks beautiful! It will be an amazing place with teachers who care and where children can learn and grow, gaining valuable skills.
The main focus recently for the children was the josh camp…a time where the children living at KCC could interact with children from the community. These camps are a time for fun, games, singing, stories and a place where children can experience love. There is no doubt that these camps change the children’s lives and leave a footprint in their hearts.
Dawn who has just come back from helping with the josh camp tells us about her experience….
My first memory of Josh Camp was when we first arrived at the Park, it was quite a moment. Our entire team dropped off the 8 of us who were working atJosh Camp and everyone was overcome with emotion by the excitement of the children running to the van to greet us. Our team instantly fell in love with the children. One of my team members said of the children that "they were open and giving of love, and it blessed us that they received our love." They just were content to hold your hand, be near you.
We were unaware until the first day of camp that a U.K. team was going to join us. They greeted us with the same enthusiasm that the kids did! It is always amazing to see how the Lord works things out. The U.K. team brought sports equipment and musical ability which complemented our team well. They were a blessing.
The third prominent memory was that the children were open to hearing about Jesus. It was a privilege to pray for them and share Jesus with them. We also are grateful to God that about 40 children prayed to receive Jesus as their Saviour. We pray that the Lord will provide connections and ways to nurture their faith. And a final memory that touched our hearts was the children singing. One morning as I was walking across the field approaching the children I could hear them worshipping the Lord; what a delightful sound! Each morning I would ask the children if anyone would like to lead us in a song. We always had eager children lead us in Worshipping the Lord! And the last song that touched us deeply was when the young children sang for us, You are our hero, at the closing at the end of the week. We all have at least one name and one face implanted firmly in our mind.
Thank you to all the people who came over to lead and run the camp, for all your time, commitment and love for the children…hope you’re not too exhausted! |
